I really want to become a vegetarian but how can I keep up with it?

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Problem is getting the food. How can I get my mom to buy veggie food for example: soymilk instead of regular milk, mock chiken, things like that. Everyone in my family eats meat and drinks milk, etc. How can I get my mom to buy seperate groceries? She’s just gonna think it’s a waste of money.

Also, I have a magazine with veggie recipes, but they all look like they take too long. What can I make if I dont have much time like when going to school?
I don’t have allowance so I can’t really buy them myself…

What is a good recipe for vegetarian chicken soup?

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Just found out my in-laws are coming over for the 4th of July weekend. One of them is a vegetarian, so I bought a chicken at the grocery store. I have steaks for the rest of us since we are not vegetarians. I have the chicken thawing on the kitchen counter and thought I would jump on Yahoo! Answers and get a quick recipe. Thanks for any help.
whitney, vegetarians eat chicken. They just don’t eat meat like from a cow.

What is the recipe for Veggie Patties?

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

There is this little deli down the street that makes these awesome vegetarian patties … they look like some kind of veggie mixture (carrots, corn, some doughy substance, etc.) that was shaped into a patti and then cooked. I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe.
Also, are there any recipes that are lo-carb for hypoglycemics?

We have a new playgroup mom (who is a vegetarian) coming for her first time, and I as the host mom make lunch for everyone. I’m good on side dishes, but am drawing a blank on a good main dish. Your help is much appreciated, Heather.

What is your best veggie recipe and/or preparation tips?

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I am looking for yummy ways to prepare veggies and/or recipes containing veggies.

My husband and I do not like a lot of vegetables, but we want our kids to grow up liking everything – it is hard to lead by example when there isn’t much we like. Our kids actually eat far more veggies than either of us.

We will eat salads with spinach, green leaf lettuce, cucumber and carrots. We eat green beans out of the can (which I know aren’t that great for you) and I really can’t think of much else we eat. I make salads often so that we do get some greens but I know we need so much more. So I am looking for you yummiest recipe to help us start to enjoy veggies more.

Things I’ll probably never eat are iceberg lettuce cooked carrots. I am really trying to get myself to eat tomatoes but I just can’t seem to. I am now growing them in my garden because I hear they are much better fresh. 10 pts to the one we like best!
I need someone else to cook for me that way they could hide the veggies like we sometimes do from our kids :) ! But when I am doing it I know they are there .. lol.

I need to find a recipe for vegetarian chilli. I think Taste of Home had a few but I can’t find them. Please share if you have a recipe.
It can’t have any meat in it, okay.
